Emily Shenk Flory

Emily Shenk Flory is a journalist whose writing has appeared in the Washington Post and national geographic.com. Before becoming a freelancer she was a copy editor at National Geographic and a managing editor at the Child Welfare League of America. Her first foray into real estate happened when she joined other renters in her apartment building to buy their units under the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act. She eventually renovated, rented out, and sold that property. She has a master's degree in journalism from Georgetown University. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and two children.

Ana Galvan

Ana Galvan is an Early Childhood Special Educator based in Denver, Colorado. As a preschool teacher, she works with young children between 3 and 5 years old with and without disabilities. She has been a special educator since 2015. As an aspiring real estate investor, she has focused on gaining knowledge of the real estate investing space, and has been a participant in the Women's Real Estate Investing Network. She is now focused on transitioning into house flipping in collaboration with partners.

Heidi Rios

Heidi Rios is based in Baltimore, MD, where she began investing in real estate with the purchase of a single family home. She now seeks to build her portfolio with investment properties within the US and internationally. Teaching is one of her passions. She received a bachelor's degree overseas and has been teaching for 20 years in both Nicaragua and the US. She is also a ravenous learner about real estate - constantly studying and researching, most recently on the topic of multifamily investment and syndication. She is the mother of two adventurous children, a permanent traveler aspirant, and a life seeker. Heidi believes that when driven, ambitious and strong women join their forces together for a purpose, the sky’s the limit and we are simply unstoppable.

Marielle Walter

Marielle Walter is a real estate investor, coach and consultant based in Washington, DC, where she began he real estate investing journey with single family buy and holds. She then transitioned into house flipping with a focus on Maryland markets. Marielle is committed to building a community of women empowered by real estate investing, and founded a group for women across the country who are launching their journey in real estate investing. Marielle is now diversifying her investing strategy to focus on building a multifamily property portfolio. Marielle has a Master's Degree in Environmental Policy, and is the mother of an energetic four year old daughter. She is also a travel addict and wine aficionado.

Rebecca Ling

Rebecca Ling has always had a passion for real estate investing, and is knowledgeable with the buying and selling process in the real estate market. She purchased her first house in 2012 and a condo in 2015. She eventually sold both at large profit to invest in further real estate ventures. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing. With over a decade of experience in business management, marketing, public relations, recruiting, business to business contracts, customer service, bookkeeping and sales, she has ample skills to bring into the REI industry. Through REI, she hopes to be able to expand her connections and portfolio, while also achieving financial freedom and flexibility to support her lifestyle and spend more time with her family. She also enjoys volunteer work and is a “Wish Granter” for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Rebecca is based in Charleston, SC, with her 11 year old daughter and boyfriend. In their free time, they love to travel, adventure, go to the beach, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Kimberly Beckwith

Kimberly Beckwith is a Realtor® and the Owner of KBRE Group LLC., providing commercial and residential real estate services through the brokerage of Century21 Premiere Properties. Located in the suburbs of Greater Cleveland, OH., she has worked in the real estate industry for more than 10 years but has had a passion for real estate for as long as she can remember. She and her former husband built a small portfolio of investment properties using the BRRRR method and also completed two successful flips. Additionally, during her real estate career, she has managed the rehabs and flips of other Investor clients. Outside of real estate, Kimberly has worked in the corporate arena as an IT Systems Analyst, Project Manager, and Product Manager. Upon her decision to leave the corporate world, for a full-time real estate career, she was serving in the role of Dir. of Operations for a small software development company. Ultimately Kimberly loves helping others to achieve their real estate goals, not only through sales and investments but through the mentoring of other agents and budding investors.

Carolina Castro

Carolina is a highly driven and well rounded professional with a BA in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration. She possesses  strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse audiences; fluent in English and Spanish. Over 10 years of financial experience. In her current role as a Human Resource Specialist, she is  responsible for developing, evaluating and managing performance management policy for 60K employees at the Social Security Administration. She provides advisory services to management officials and personnel specialists on performance management problems involving the interpretation of complex and often conflicting federal regulations. She started her investing journey via a partnership with PowerHouse Women and is interested in building a portfolio of multifamily properties. In addition, Carolina helped start and co-lead the Real Estate InvestHer Community in Baltimore with a member base of 400+ female investors. Lastly, she is passionate about personal growth in all facets of life (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, financial) and strives to share her vision to empower women to seek successful, balanced lives.

Halima Heyward

Halima is a 47 year old single mother who is a Certified Community Healthworker, Interfaith Minister, with a background in not for profit organizational management and community relations. She has been interested in the real estate sector for as long as she can remember. As a little girl growing up in Harlem, NY, she would daydream about rehabbing the abandoned buildings that she saw daily. Recently, she has been educating herself, going to meetups, networking, and building relationships in the real estate world. She works as a team with her only child, who graduated Cum Laude with a major in business and minor in marketing. Her goal is to invest, while learning and building an extensive portfolio . She’d like to partner with and teach women from similar backgrounds and one day have a rent to own business, using an owner finance model. She’d like to empower other single moms to become homeowners

Lupei Chou

Lupei Chou is a Naval Officer with 19 years of experience in logistics, acquisition and contract management. She has done successful real estate projects using the buy and hold, flip and BRRRR methods. She currently holds a portfolio of 98 doors mix of commercial and residential properties and focuses on growing her multifamily portfolio. She leads InvestHER Capital Region and Cocktails and Connections, a local meetup in the DMV area. She is passionate about financial literacy education, women's empowerment and giving back to the military & veterans community.  She founded Sisterhood in Real Estate in 2020 to connect with other women investors. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her husband, Derby.

Kara Pendl

Kara Pendl is the founder and CEO of Karacotta Ceramics, a production pottery studio in Austin, Texas, carried by over 2,000 retailers worldwide. She is also the co-founder of Broad Studios, a woman-based art collective in Austin, and she founded 100K Creative in 2018, to coach emerging artists on generating six-figures in their first year of business. Her goal is to use the success of these businesses to grow her real estate company, Pendl House. She has participated in two JV single-family flip deals as a general partner + GC, and currently holds a flipped single family rental, in Austin, TX. Her ideal projects moving forward are multi-family properties and single-family buy and holds. She is currently pursuing her real estate license. She loves spending time with her husband, Clark, dog, Curly, practicing yoga, reading and traveling to boutique hotels on beaches.

Wajidah Heyward

Wajidah Heyward is a recent Marketing graduate from SUNY New Paltz with an entrepreneurial spirit. Her passion for giving back and creativity has guided her decision making. During quarantine she started GORL, a clothing line, and donated a percentage of the proceeds to various charities that support the BLM movement. Her interest in real estate comes from partnering with her mother, Halima. As a beginner she is eager to meet like-minded people and make big moves. Within the next year she would like to close at least 3 deals through wholesaling, have 4 doors, and buy a home of her own. Real estate is such an important resource and she would love to bring the business knowledge acquired in this field back to those in underserved communities.

Chelsea Westover

Chelsea Westover is the Deputy Project Manager for the Department of Defense by day and a real estate investor by night. In addition to managing an 80-person team, Chelsea is working on growing her real estate portfolio. She currently holds a duplex and is working to diligently grow her portfolio through multifamily investing. She was a participant in the Summer 2020 OpenSpaces Women mentoring program to become an expert in the value-add, BRRRR (buy, rehab, rent, refinance, repeat) method. Chelsea started The Real Estate InvestHER Baltimore Chapter in 2020, which grew to over 550 members in less than one year.  She is an acquisitionist for the company Jenn Buys 585 founded by investors Jenn and Joe Delle Fave. She is learning to use the variety of creative financing methods to acquire properties and has firsthand experience with renovations. Chelsea has a Master of Engineering in High Performance Structures from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a strong passion to help others achieve their goals.

Amy Thompson

Amy Thompson is an experienced entrepreneur and teacher.  After earning a bachelors of business at Baylor University, Amy pursued and developed multiple family businesses over the last twenty years ranging from pest control to tutoring children.  Amy currently is the proud owner of Transaction Prescription where she serves realtors by tackling their time-consuming paperwork.  

 

She also continues to pursue her interest in real estate investing which includes house flipping and multi-family investments. Amy previously participated in one of the first PowerHouse  Group flips in Salisbury, MD. 

In her free time, Amy continues with her passion of assisting and helping to place children in foster and adoptive homes in the state of Texas. Amy spends her free time with her family of five sons and two daughters. She loves to travel and attend soccer games.

Alexandria Salgado

Alex has years of experience in the banking industry, specifically in the Anti Money Laundering/Know Your Customer space. She currently oversees the KYC Quality Control team for a multinational bank. New to real estate investing, she closed on her first property at the end of August. The property is a short term rental in the Great Smoky Mountains which will be self managed from out of state. In addition to scaling her short term rental business she is interested in learning about Multifamily. She recently relocated to Miami from the Bronx, NY. In her free time she enjoys working out, cooking and going to the beach. She is a proud dog mom of two toy poodles named Bentley and Bronx.

Lupei Chou

Daphne Domingo is new in real estate investing beyond owning her residence. By day, she manages the public policy & government affairs office in Washington, DC for an investment firm. She is exploring REI as a way to diversify her investments and potentially as a career path. Most importantly, she is excited to work with and learn from a team of dynamic and experienced female investors. Daphne lives in Alexandria, VA with her new husband and their 3 cats.

Katherine Porlles

Katherine Porlles is a proud mommy of 4 girls under the age of 6! She holds a B.S from George Mason University in Finance and Marketing. She has been investing since 2013 and currently owns 11 rentals in MD and PA, a combination of section 8 rentals, vacation rentals and long term rentals. She and her husband also own a home improvement company, DK Home Services. She currently works as a pricing analyst at American Systems and as a Realtor part-time.

Janina Sukhu

Janina Sukhu is a Registered Nurse, Consultant and Real Estate Investor based in Canoga Park, California. She got her start in REI by joining the Women’s Real Estate Network and renting out an ADU to nurses and professionals. She is also a private money lender and is currently building a portfolio of rentals in the Indiana area. She has a Master’s in Business Administration.

Molly Thompson

Molly Thompson is a real estate investor based in Manassas, Virginia.  She has rental properties in Virginia and Washington, D.C., and she is on track to fix-and-flip three houses this year.  Molly holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a law degree from a top-tier law school.  In her spare time, she loves to travel, watch soccer, and hang out with Huckleberry, her black pug.

Eliana Torres

Eliana is a real estate investor and part-time real estate broker in Fayetteville, NC. She specializes in investor strategies. Eliana participated in the previous PowerHouse group flip opportunity, flipping a house in Salisbury, MD with PowerHouse partners. Eliana is a full time Government attorney working with trademark registrations. In her spare time Eliana competes in bodybuilding and is a runner. Eliana has a goal to own multiple cash flowing properties for creating generational wealth.

Brenda Mas

Brenda Mas is based in Los Angeles, CA. She began her career in real estate nearly 2 decades ago working for a large owner/builder/developer. Her experience includes the restructuring & development of over 5,000 multi-family units, facilitating over $500 Million in financing, and asset managing over 800 units. She has spearheaded the implementation of $1+ Million marketing campaigns ensuring the successful stabilization and sale of newly completed projects and improving occupancy of existing management portfolios. She has 2 daughters and a stepdaughter with her husband David (who builds large multifamily projects for REITS & Institutions). Together they own a luxury home construction company and have become personal mentoring students of the apartment king, Brad Sumrok.  Currently she is a passive investor in 354 doors and looking to add more, plus actively looking for BRRRS & STRs.
